Fri, May 19 - L/O Midway Marina - 'Crabs in Coinjock'

This morning we heard there was a service crew working on the disabled bridge, but no indication of when it would be up and running. Question...why do bridge failures always happen in the 'closed' position? Do you think repairs would be speedier if the bridge got stuck in the 'open position'...if road traffic came to a halt, while boaters continued to use the waterway under the 'open' bridge...hmmm?
We decided to give Mar-a-Lago a good clean up, and scrub her deck and hull and get rid of all the salt that had accumulated! But then Terry stopped by and asked us to take care of assigning spots to arriving boats while he went to some appointments. So, that kept us quite busy...all boats heading north had to pass this way and Coinjock was the last spot to stop. We ended up with 11 boats on the docks, many more than usual, and even though the bridge was fixed by 2:00, everyone decided to stay at the marina overnight.
The crews from m/v Aqua Fennetic and m/v Seven Tenths (Deb & Henry) bought some fresh crabs, and invited us for a happy hour feast. Henry cooked the crabs perfectly, Marie brought delicious homemade bread...and an authentic crab boil was held at the newspaper covered picnic table! We then went aboard Seven Tenths for a tour of the spacious vessel, and enjoyed our fresh strawberries & whipped cream dessert....thank you Deb & Henry for your hospitality!
