We got into Beaufort inlet at around 7 AM and had no drama this time. I got on the phone with Lynn at the North Sails loft in St Pete and he was able to help us get the parts ordered for the replacement sail track.
We asked him to check to see if they had the details of the track and slides as to the sizes etc. They had no records, but he got the Tides company on the phone and they did a search. Meanwhile we motored up the way to an anchorage at Adams Creek and I pulled the old track down and we took a bunch of measurements. Then to our dismay, we discovered we didn’t have any phone service. So we upped anchor and went over to Oriental thinking the service would be better there. They also have a free dock and we thought we might get on that.
Well, the dock was full and the service was no better there than where we were before. I did find a spot in the middle of the Nuese River though where we had service. Go figure! We have T-Mobile phone service and the price is right but it reinforces the old adage about how you get what you pay for. Anyway, between that and the sat phone I was able to determine that the rep had found the records of our rig and they could manufacture a new one to fit and replace the slides that had been lost. We worked though Lynn at the loft and scheduled shipment to the Atlantic Boat Basin in Chesapeake VA and we plan to pick it up on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, we will meander up the ICW and see the sights.
We did have a great nights sleep last night Charlotte, and thanks for your comments. It's wonderful when we know someone is reading this stuff.
