Day 5- Arrival at Palm Beach
25 October 2015 | At Sea
We carried on past Cape Canaveral, with the wind staying strong, and alternating between sailing and motor sailing. We laid a course directly to Lake Worth Inlet, The wind came around to the east and blew 15-20 all night with occasional higher gusts, but the waves were impressive. We would get occasional swells that would lay us over on our beam ends, so finding a spot to wedge into and hold on was the order of the night. We passed Ft Pierce in the middle of the night and then St Lucie Inlet. Then we passed Jupiter Inlet just as the light was coming up on the horizon in the east. No one was coming out of the inlet and I'm sure it was closed due to the high waves. We found ourselves off Lake Worth at 8 AM with the ebb starting against the wind and had a roller coaster ride for a bit going in, but made it through with no problems. Then it was up the ICW to Old Port Cove and to anchor. Sorting out the boat and rest were the order of the day followed by a visit with Denny and Shannon. We plan to stay here for a few days and get things sorted with the boat, send the water maker in for repair, and rest a bit. Then we'll head on further south.
