Measure twice cut once- the old carpenters adage still holds true today as we started our galley rebuild. After securing the necessary materials for the rebuild we arrived at Avalon this afternoon to take the final measurements. I reinstalled parts of the old counter base which I modified to accept the changes planned for the galley rebuild, from this point on I can take the final measurements needed to construct the modules needed for the upgrade(We are re-building the galley in 4 sections/modules). The first module is the section which will hold our stove/oven/large drawer for storage and a 13 gallon freshwater bladder tank. The second module will hold 3 or 4 drawers and our old ice box chest which will be upgraded with several inches of new closed cell foam (R-7 per inch)insulation, and a 12 volt refrigeration system. The 3rd module will be a cabinet above the stove which will house a microwave oven/under cabinet coffee pot and more storage the final module will, have our relocated sink and much more needed storage. With final measurements taken we headed for home after enjoying lunch at the Creek-side restaurant-a successful day! :)
