Oct 31-Deltaville to Old Point Confort
31 October 2017 | Old Point Confort, Va
Pete- Sunny, light winds, warm 70's
Today was a beautiful sail down the Chesapeake from Deltaville to Old Point Confort anchorage.
On the way into old point comfort approximately 800 yards off our portside we passed the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford # 78, it was quite a sight seeing her and knowing that aboard were 5000 of Americas Finest young men & women leaving for deployment protecting our way of life and the freedoms we all hold so dear!
We motor sailed for a while today until the wind changed direction & again was on our nose meaning no sailing, just motoring.
Even though we were following are boat buddies aboard s/v Autumn Born we followed our position closely on the charts all day. It is very important that we get to know where were at at all times and this is good practice for us both! Bunny has had training on this during her years in the Army & I have read charts when clamming 40 years ago, We are both getting reacquainted with this skill and seem to be getting the hang of it!
Another surprise to us is that the Portsmouth Naval Hospital where Tyler was born is at old point comfort!, brings back fond memories! We really miss not seeing him.
We received a picture of Lexi and Kaylee in their Halloween costumes, wish we were there! They looked so adorable!
