22 April 2019 | Marco Island
Peter Fraleigh | Beautiful day, 80*
Well today started out on a good note. We left the mooring field at Ft. Myers Beach and headed out into the ocean for a first time in the ocean. We did well traveling down to Marco Island to find the anchorage behind Coconut Island. We even had our sails up for a couple hours and the motor off! Upon arriving at Marco Island we headed into Capri pass to find our Anchorage. As we completed a circle to ensure we wouldn’t encounter low water when anchored we ran aground! Of course we were unable to free ourselves so we ended up calling towboat US. They towed us off the shoal and showed us a great anchorage across from the snook inn where we listen to music all night! Lesson learned, Maptech Cruising Guide is not the best for anchorages!
Thank you TowboatUs for getting us out of a jam!
