Hurry Up and Wait

"A cruiser's plans are written in the sand at low tide"
A favorite adage of my next door neighbors, whose S/V "Anum Cara" has been on a mooring for more than a year with engine trouble.
We scrambled all day to get everything packed, brought the boat in to the launching dock at the marina and loaded it up, and then our friends on S/V "Sol Mate," who were going to buddy-boat with us hailed us on the VHF to tell us they have engine trouble. Possibly the clutch.
We told them we'd wait 24 hours, see if it's an quick fix, and either way, we'll probably sail Sunday at O-dark-30 (around 3am). The strategy is to get past Topolobampo in the early afternoon so we're not picking our way through hundreds of fishing nets in the dark.
I've no complaints, there are plenty of things on the To-Do list I didn't think I'd have time for. All we're really going to miss is the last parade of Carnival in Mazatlan on Tuesday. There will be other carnivals and other parades.
