Sailing with Celestial's Tripp

We are a Tripp 47 racing boat turned cruiser that we bought in Maine in 2009. We sailed it through the Panama Canal and up to Seattle then back to Mexico and over to Hawaii in 2012.

Check list to leave New Zealand

26 April 2015
Repaired bilge pump, check. Repair leak in water bladder, check. Sewed up cover to water bladder, check.
Set tubs up to catch water, check. (It's pouring out there!)
Borrow a car and load up 2 full carts of groceries, check.
Collapse and stow 3 bikes, check.
Scrub the grim off hull, rudder and prop, check.
Give advance notice to customs, check.
Use up internet! Yah, finally a fun thing to do.

We're still sitting in heavy pouring rain, 20-30 knot winds. It was nice to have the two marine stores here to get last minute parts. Wish they had a decent grocery store within biking distance like Whangarei but beggars can't be choosers, right?

My picture shows Celeste with the fold up bikes. So nice to 'expand your horizons' and reduce your thighs!

We sailed from Maine in 2009 to Panama, up to Seattle, back down to Mexico and over to Hawaii in 2012. 2013 we went to NZ, Aust. and the South Pacific returning to Hawaii in 2015. In 2016 we sailed to Alaska and back to the Northwest. We kept our boat in Portland until April 2018 when Scott and [...]
