Preparations to leave El Salvador for French Polynesia
09 March 2024

FINALLY, we are nearing the big moment we've been preparing for - soooo many projects; big and small, crucial and convenience oriented, provisioning (basically fitting food into as many spaces as possible!), making water to keep our tanks full (repairing a pinhole leak too!), filling jerry jugs of fuel and spare water, weather watching and route planning.
Recently an inbound boat to Costa del Sol (our location) ran aground and was totally lost. It was very sad but fortunately the single-hander captain was safe. It's the first time anything like this has happened crossing the bar into Costa del Sol and hopefully the last. This event has caused everyone to pause and reevaluate procedures and timing when it comes to crossing the bar. For us, it caused us to be a little more conservative and delay our departure until tides are higher which means we will leave Monday March 11 around 3pm.
While we are prepared, ready and wanting to leave now, realistically, it's not a problem staying in the marina which is part of a resort. There's $15 buffet's, $1 beers, and swimming pools.
So for now, preparing continues until our big day on Monday.
