On the way!

We made out of the Costa del Sol estuary, across the bar, safely. We did not take any water over the bow which can happen sometimes if a wave crashes in front of the boat. Fortunately, we had a high tide which meant that there were gaps between breaking waves so we had a smooth exit. We were the first bar crossing after another sailor ran aground on the way in and lost the boat.
That behind us, we motored out a little and hoisted the sails for the first time in many months and stopped the engine. It feels so good - the silence, the gentle breeze...
Now we need to get out to the trade winds which might take a couple days. We should arrive in Nuku Hiva during the first week of April.
