Happy Independence Day in the USA, we are about 700 nautical miles east of the US right now. Another beautiful day with occasional squalls around and continued breeze from the east. Winds lightened a bit overnight and Anne rolled out the entire jib during her 0300-0600 watch. Later in the day the wind decreased further into upper teens to mid 20s and we raised the full mainsail again.
Anne prepared a baked chicken dinner with broccoli and rice, our first full dinner underway. With the wind and seas down it was easier to work in the galley and we could open some of the ports for ventilation down below.
As the day ended the wind began to back to the northeast, we pulled in the sails to sail close hauled, but we were no longer able to lay the east end of Bermuda, our best course was about 30 degrees to the west of our destination.
