Finally in Florida

08 November 2014 | Perdido Key, FL
Ed/High pressure building, cooler, North Wind
After 2077 Nautical miles of lakes, rivers, bays and bayou's, we are finally in Florida, we still have a long way to go, but the welcome sign was nice to see.

We left Orange Beach late planning on a short and restful trip to the sunshine state, we had just that. when we arrived at lost Key Marina about 3 miles west of the Pensacola Channel. We were greeted by a wonderful staff, and had a ring side seat for the Blue Angels practice.

We left Lost Key early, 0400 headed to Panama City to try to catch the weather window for a gulf crossing the end of the week. About 22 miles from Lost Key, and 5 miles offshore, the raw water cooling pump failed and a call went out to TowBoatUS, and we were towed back the 25 miles to Pensacola. I had the spares, but could not work in 3 foot seas, so we were on our way back to Pensacola to make the repairs.

We plan to head out on the 10th for Destin and will anchor there.

Thanks for all the comments, keep them coming.
