Ed/ Sunny and wonderful.
March has always been the time to plan and prepare for summer cruising. In the past, it has been mostly planning, and a little doing since the weather in Cleveland is not conducive to Boat work. But in Tierra Verde, it is another story, it is warm, lower humidity than the rest of the year and generally dry, a great time for all the exterior boat projects on the to-do list.
The warm weather also allowed for some reflection, we have taken the EdE J over 3000nm, and both EJ and I have survived quite well, however, reality is setting in, we are not as young as we used to be, so several changes needed to be made, new cushions, the 30 year old ones were worn out. The cushions also included a new creature comfort, a hump for the captain. This should make the many hours of sitting at the helm more bearable.
So our March Madness list is:
- Windlass
- New Cushions
- New aft holding tank
- Varnish the Bright work
- Wax
- Debug the nagging NMEA 2000 network glitch
- Add a new boarding ladder, jumping to floating docks is too much for these old bones.
The New Cushions
The Windlass Platform in the making. Always make a mock-up of any big project, it is cheaper to find out that it won't fit when it is cardboard.
