On the bluff overlooking Bahia Santa Maria

Similar to Turtle Bay, Bahia Santa Maria is a crescent shaped bay with miles and miles of sandy beaches. A small river feeds from the north into the ocean with mangroves and lagoons behind it. White sand beaches run east along a spit for miles and to the west you'll see beautiful rugged mountains typical of the Baja Penninsula. No town or village, just this huge pristine bay providing ample space for all the Ha Ha boats and then some. The first day there was about relaxing and swimming and more relaxing. The waves were pretty big crashing on the beach so we didn't take the dinghy to shore. We just hung out and enjoyed the scenery. The next day was another beach party located up on the bluff. No panga taxis for us. We piled into the dinghy, timed the waves and gunned it! Our first beach landing was a success!
I'm glad we arrived early. Usually your boat and passengers are cleared through customs and immigration in Cabo, which can be a bit of a hassle. But for the first time in the 18 year history of the "Ha Ha", customs agents came from San Carlos to process as many boats and people as they could while their supply of tourist cards lasted. We were among the lucky ones.
Shortly after that, the party began. We enjoyed live music from a band that travelled from Los Cabos, and an incredible meal provided by a community of fishermen and their wives. I continue to feel overwhelmed with gratitude when I look out over this amazing sea scape, while enjoying the company of Ron & Hope, our dear friends Terry & Diane, and watching our kids swim and play in the water with their friend Patrick from "Shantianna". I love that Sydney Instigated a soccer game with some local kids on the beach, who unbeknownst to our kids, really knew how to play the game!
