It's our last day in Port Ghalib. Dave has rushed off to get us checked out of the port. When we woke up this morning there was an additional tiny sailboat at the dock. Sitting in the shade of the building were 2 young men. They were the crew of that tiny boat. Dave stopped to talk to them and rushed back in to asked me to make copies of our charts up to the Med for them. They didn't have any. We were in a big hurry to leave to take advantage of the light winds which were forecast before dark. We were in a race to get into Hurghada overnight and preferably before the sun set tomorrow.
When I looked and saw how young they were i put a couple of boxes of mango juice, our boat card and 2 beers in the bag along with the charts before I handed it to them. We started talking. Corentin the skipper/builder, told me he was from France and had built the boat out of hemp in Bangladesh and sailed the tired looking little boat here.
His brother Arthur joined in in the southern Red Sea to help get the boat back to France. They both are true survivors.
What a story. Before i knew it they were both aboard and i was making the 4 of us chicken dinners as fast as i could before Dave got back and we had to leave.
If you've ever thought or felt that we are on an adventure or even remotely on the edge...... just take a look at
Corentin's Blog
They were joking about maybe putting the little boat on a truck for the rest of the way and I immediately volunteered to go with the boat in the truck and them crewing for Dave to the Suez Canal. Unfortunately, i didn't have enough time to implement that because we left 10 min after Dave got back to the boat! RATZ
We hope this little weather window works because while we were on our tour there came the best window we have seen yet... All the boats are gone except us and our and adventurous friends .
