Greeting from the bridgedeck of Big Frisky after two days at sea, Just North of Haiti steadily heading northwest.

The past two nights we've passed through two BIG storms. We haven't seen thunder and lightning for 6 months as it doesn't exist in the winter in the BVI. We run radar all night and pretty much anytime we want to track storms and so they are not unexpected but both of the last two nights they have been awe inspiring. One caught my watch on Sunday Morning at 0200 and the other caught Pamela around 0500. Its extra scary when its dark and torrential rain is falling and then lightning strikes and llights the whole scary mess up. Our steering wheel is at the back of the cockpit and while lovely in light winds you can get a breeze from the sometimes still cockpit its not so lovely with a torrential downpour of cold rain. Stand your watch, no matter what.

Today was spent sailing in larger cross seas off our stern qtr. It built steadily all day until we reefed when we had steady 25 gusting to the 30s. We switched headsails from our 110 Genoa to our 90% solent and tucked in a single reef in our main. We are so blessed to have roller furling for both head and main sails, its all done from the cockpit. Stll quite a project for us together but SO much better and safer than having to manually tuck in reefs from the base of the mast.

One of the last things I did before we left was change out the water pump on our genset so we have our power plant back! Very nice when we use our power hungry auto pilot, radar and running lights while sailing all day and night. Well time to go check the surroundings while on watch. Wish us well for a speedy trip to Ft Ladeda!
