Day 1 - Port Denarau, Fiji to Opua, NZ
20 October 2017 | 20 05.3'S:176 08.9'E, SW Fiji Waters
We were fortunate to be able to clear out f Fiji from Port Denarau, since a super yacht was clearing in and the Customs and Immigration Officials were already there for them. We were amoung 6 boats (that we could see) that trailed through Navulu Passage and started the journey to NZ. By early evening we had lost touh with the remaining AIS target and navigation lights behind us and we once again found ourselves alone on the passage. Conditions have been rough with 2.5m seas and 20-25kts of true wind. We are sailing upwind with two reefs in the main and our jib. No one is feeling great, but we are soldiering through the conditions. The forecast shows that these will be the roughest of the passage. We have made about 160nm this first 24hr.
