Today was a great day. Thanks to Instagram we found out that our friends David and Lisa moved to Naples Florida fairly recently. We spent time with them during our assignment in Gamba, Gabon. So we had a perfect excuse for a road trip!
Our friend Lisa is now the director of the Cork Swamp Sanctuary and she and David gave us a tour of this amazing nature preserve. The boardwalk through the gorgeous swamp parkland was filled with native plants, spectacular birds, and even an alligator. David's knowledge of botany was very helpful in appreciating the space. Afterwards, Lisa and David showed us their home and we had a properly social distanced and wonderfully delicious dinner. It was a joy to get reacquainted with their sweet dog, Ellie - see photo.
