Whisker Pole Repair

I hoisted the whisker pole using the topping lift on a winch but didn't notice the joint to the slide on the mast was kinked. It pulled the pole right out of the joint. Luckily the pole didn't hit me when it came down. I managed to drill and tap 4 new holes in the pole/joint attachment point and installed new bolts. I then put in 4 additional self tapping screws for good measure. All of this was done on the bow in rolling seas with Leigh holding the pole while I used my power tools. The pole is back in use and working great. We've been wing on wing for hours now and making good time.
