Playing catch-up again because we've been without reliable wi-fi or cellular service for much of the past 24+ hours....
Our attempt to find a suitable anchorage on Hydra was a bit frustrating on Tuesday afternoon. We left Poros a bit later than ideal, but provisioning, topping off my pre-paid greek cell SIM card and waiting for the new (correct size this time!) swim ladder to arrive via ferry made that unavoidable. It was after 1130 am when we left Poros and with 15-20 knot winds from the NE, we had a nice broad reach SSE along the N coast of Hydra. There are only a few options for anchoring overnight along this coast and we checked out all three of them. Unfortunately, none offered the space or protection we needed for the night so we continued around to the southwest corner of the island where there are several small bays offering okay but not great protection from the prevailing winds. I was a bit indecisive, wanting plenty of space and "no worries" holding for the night. So we checked out four options and debated the pro's and con's of each before finally making a decision. Ultimately we settled on a remote bay (Ay Nikolaos) with no onshore facilities or services which we shared with two other sailboats and three greek fishing boats for the evening.
