Solitude
25 April 2013 | Kuraca Bucu
Dan 28 degrees C, 1016mb, clear sunny skies w/gentle breeze
We left Datça shortly before noon after some last-minute provisioning at the local market and bakery. Our plan is to spend the next 4-5 nights in some of the more remote and pristine anchorages along the Datça Penninsula. Kuraca Bucu, the large bay where we anchored last evening, offered great protection and a beautiful setting. We sat in the cockpit after dark, mesmerized by the absolute stillness and quiet while our visual senses were stimulated by silvery sparkles of moonlight reflecting on the surface. Tyler's guitar strumming enhanced the mood even further, providing one of those magical cruising moments where you feel compelled to pinch yourself to make sure you aren't dreaming.
Breakfast in the cockpit this morning featured yogurt mixed with locally produced honey & almonds, then a delightful bite of walnut baklava. Tyler just woke up early to share news that he was accepted into the "American Conversations" program at St. Olaf College where he will begin this Fall. Life is good out here right now and we have so very much to be thankful for.
