Month 2
02 May 2016
After 2 months, things are finally starting to take shape as far as getting a full grasp of the repairs and where resources need to be placed.
The starboard glasswork is mostly complete, and the shaped toerail is on and sealed. It looks great! Some more shaping and finish work remains on these items, but that's a a hug hurdle to have passed. Interior work is finishing up in the aft head cabinets, and moving onto the cosmetic work on the sole and cabinets. The forward galley cabinets will be another hurdle in another few months.
The mast is ordered and sounds like 12 or so weeks for delivery, putting it arriving about August.
Meanwhile my sail repairs continue to progress with the two upper panels removed from the Genoa, where I had to cut it in half, and ready to reattach. However, replacing the lower panels, or most of them, will occur first due to the weight of sailcloth to get through the machine.
The staysail is mostly complete, with only some hand stitching of the head webbing to go. Thats the spot where I broke about 8 or so needles, the walking foot, and a lot of gib hook gouges due to needle strikes. Then I'll add some corner covers to protect the webbing from sun damage.
The main has webbing to go, but still needs an inspection.
