We Made it!!

17 December 2010 | Nassau, Bahamas
Don / 78 / clear sunny
We chugged into Nassau Harbor at 7 AM this morning. The engine ran a full 30 hrs and got us from No Name Harbor at Key Biscayne, FL across the Gulf Stream and Atlantic Ocean to the Bahamas Banks at Triple Rocks. We sailed on the banks and met the Tongue of the Ocean at the Northwest Channel bouy and arrived at the entrance to Nassau Harbor before light on Friday. Sue wanted to go in before light but I didn't and the other boats all waited. After first light we found our marina and coasted into a slip that barely was wide enough to accomodate Jubilee. We stayed awake long enough to clear customs and then crash for a few hours of rest.

The scariest part of the trip for me was leaving No Name Harbor at 3 AM in the complete darkness on Thursday morning. I didn't enjoy the night sailing and it was the only part of the trip that kept me awake.

Sue did another masterful job of releving me when I became sleepy. She kept the boat on the proper heading and an eye on all the boats around us.
