Sailing Again!
31 January 2017 | Le Bourg, Guadeloupe
After nearly two weeks on Basse Terre we set out for Les Saintes, a small archipelago of the SW point of Guadeloupe. The channel between the mainland and the islands lived up to its reputation and we spent a a few fun hours close hauled in 25kts. We were managing to stay fairly dry but there is always one wave.... I saw Janaki flinch then it hit me in the middle of my back and continued over my head to utterly drench Janaki. She handled it with her usual aplomb despite it being remarkably cold. Anyway it was a great sail made greater by having Mike and Robin on their well-matched Pearson 39 to 'race'.
The day was rounded off by an afternoon of haircuts and boutiques in the very chic little French town Le Bourg.
The only slight downside is that the mooring ball (no anchoring allowed) is dreadful and it is TIPPING down again. The locals assure us that it never rains at this time of year.....
We will anchor tomorrow- whatever they say - and the sun will shine.
