We are a sailboat again

Sally Hot Humid and cloudy
About 2:30 yesterday Light Reach was moved to the haul out area and the big crane was used to step the mast. We watched with our hearts in our throats as they carefully plucked the mast from the plethora of them currently stored on land. Slowly but surely the crane lifted the mast to an upright position, then swung about to where Light Reach was sitting in the water and placed it in position on the deck. Light Reach's mast is deck stepped which means that the mast sits in a fitting on the deck which is supported by a compression post that sits on the keel. There were 5 people running about attaching the stays and shrouds as the crane held the mast in place. Once they had it secured the crane carefully backed away. We spent the night in the haul out area as they still needed to attach the boom and tune the rigging. They are doing that this morning. Still waiting to hear on the bilge pump replacement. We think the gentleman in the picture supporting the mast should collect hazardous duty pay and perhaps dangerous jobs would like to try this one. Note where the roller furling drum is located in the picture. Oh my lets hope he and the crane operator are on good terms!
