Sally in the 80's humidity 90%
Someone has forgotten to tell Mother Nature that it is June. We are having August weather and August in the Chesapeake is hot hot hot with very little wind. At least we don't have to shovel it.
There actually is a front scheduled to come through this afternoon and with it gusty winds and thunder storms.
Our new main sail was delivered on Sunday. She's a beauty. The last one did not owe us anything as it was 21 years old and pretty tired. With the help of the sail maker we bent it on, attached the reef lines and checked both reef points. The sail is has full battens and the sail maker fit those at the dock.
We haven't taken her for a test sail yet been busy doing boat chores, fun things like laundry and paying bills. We also needed to put rigging tape on the standing rigging fittings before taking her out to avoid ripping our new sails. The Jib was replaced last fall. Light Reach should fairly fly now. We got lucky and were able to use our old sail cover to cover the new main for now. Next project for Sally's sewing machine is a stack pack to replace the old sail cover. Attached is picture of her with the sail up at the dock. That is Bruce the sail maker on the deck. Really nice guy and knows his stuff a pleasure to work with. The picture is courtesy of our dock mate Bonnie on M/V Quandary, thank you Bonnie!
Vessel Name: Light Reach
Vessel Make/Model: Pacific Seacraft 37
Hailing Port: Annapolis Md
Crew: Scott and Sally and missing our CSO India the wonder Schnauzer she sails on in our hearts
Scott and Sally met in college, married and lived the average dirt dweller life for years always somewhere near the water. We fell in love with sailing in the early 90's. Summer of 2014 we both retired and became full time cruisers. [...]
