Sally - cloudy and cool
Planned schedule for departure is in 6 days. We've been scurrying like bees to get all systems set to go for launch. The boards for the additional diesel and gasoline cans have been installed starboard and port. The wind breaking cloths have been installed on the cockpit. They should give us some protection. Light Reach does not have a full enclosure for her cockpit so we are exposed to the elements. The weather here is starting to turn cooler. The provisions with the exception of perishables have been laid in and stored. There is not a millimeter of unused space below or above deck. We need to sell the SUV in the next week, both of us have mixed feelings on that. We would love to hang on to it and store it someplace North but have no place to sensibly do that The biggest challenge for me of late was balancing the load on the boat. At one point we were listing pretty badly to starboard but we managed to even it out. We bought a sat phone at the boat show and are having some issues getting it set up. The Captain has taken on that task and hopefully we should have it resolved shortly. Technology is useful but frustrating at times. We've picked up spare parts for the engine, the oil is changed. The transmission has been serviced and the fuel filters changed.
The boat show last weekend was a fun event. The weather was great on Thursday but Saturday was rainy and cool. The weather did not interfere with our shopping though we picked up new charts for our chart plotter, screens for our hatches in addition to the sat phone. We had a lovely visit with our sailing friends Paul and Janet who attended the show with us and helped us celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary on the 12th. He bought me a life raft :-)
Today's pic was taken by Bonnie on M/V Quandary of the maiden voyage of the kayak I received for my birthday from my lovely daughter and her family and Captain Scott. I clearly love it.
