Happy May Day

Sally the wind she be a howlin
Been a few years since I left May baskets on the neighborhood doorsteps. I doubt that is done anywhere anymore. We were up early had coffee and breakfast, cleaned up the condo and closed it up for a long term. Depending on weather and other factors it might be a while before we get back her. Scott buttoned up the Mazda as well. I decided to provision in Boynton as the selection is better there than in Marathon and we had the rental car until 5. After stocking up on fresh produce and a few other items we were off via land to Marathon. The trip down takes a while even by car and was thankfully uneventful. Once in Marathon Scott had to pump out the dinghy which was full of water. A nasty weather front had dumped a ton of rain on the region Tuesday night. I loaded him up with the provisions, backpacks and CSO and they headed back to the boat while I took the car back to the Marathon airport to return it. It was a gorgeous day, a bit windy and not unbearably hot. After fueling up the car and dropping it off I decided to walk back to the Marina. It hindsight I should have worn better shoes, I had on flip flops, and the walk is a bit over 3 miles. It turned out fine and I met Scott back at the Marina for the ride out to LR. The Harbor has lots of empty mooring balls now since the migration North has begun in earnest. We are getting quite a few boats in from the Bahamas, the Key West and points south and Florida's west coast. Most are transients on their way to points north of here. We will become one of them very soon. We want a two to three day weather window to get up to Miami and from there it will be another two to three days until we reach Lantana. We can do that stint inside if we need to but would prefer to avoid the bridges and go up the outside. My tasks for the immediate future are to get things stowed and in traveling mode, review the charts and courses, get the chart plotter squared away, do final laundry and provision runs, and watch the weather. Right now it looks like we may be having a very rough front coming through in the next few days which may delay our departure. We're looking at Monday or Tuesday but that very well could change. Today's picture is of the sign that hangs in the "Tree of Knowledge" . Before the Tiki Hut usurped it , the tree was the favored hang out spot for cruisers in the Marina where much pontification was done. Today its where most folks wait for a taxi. The sign says it all.
