Tieing up for Summer

13 May 2015 | Lantana Florida
Sally
We spent the day getting settled into our new berth. We will be here until Nov waiting out hurricane season. The marina while sparten in amenities does have a travel lift large enough to pull us out and room to put us on the hard should a named storm come our way. We will have her hauled when we head north to visit family and friends in July for her yearly maintenance. We are pretty sure that the bottom lost some paint on the way down the waterway which will need replacement. When we had the bottom cleaned the diver told us the zinc was starting to dissolve it will need to be changed out. Today we spent time getting the boat back into dock mode. The ditch kit and life raft were stored away, thankful that we had not needed to use them. Harness, tethers, jack line and all the bits and bots used during a passage were put in their proper lockers. We needed to adjust the lines to the tide range as we found them tight as a banjo string when it went out. Scott volunteered to take the hike down to the condo to pick up the car while I worked on getting the boat squared away. When he returned we headed out in the car to the condo to clean up and have a shower. We returned to the boat for dinner and a good night of rest. The picture is my Mother's Day gift from Scott. Whoo hoo and yes I can start this one.

About:
Scott and Sally met in college, married and lived the average dirt dweller life for years always somewhere near the water. We fell in love with sailing in the early 90's. Summer of 2014 we both retired and became full time cruisers. [...]
