Sally - lovely day in Annapolis
We had scheduled a stop in Annapolis /Eastport to meet up with Sara and Ken on Tintean. We had last seen them when we separated in Oriental NC last fall. They spent the winter in the Bahamas after having work done in Oriental on Tintean. It was a bittersweet day for them as a good friend had passed away and they were attending his funeral. We had a short but quality visit with them over lunch at Davis Pub. If you are familiar with Eastport you know Davis as the place is a local hangout and watering hole. Crossing the Spa Creek bridge into Eastport from Annapolis there is a remarkable change. Eastport is much more laid back and a working waterfront. We had originally planned to meet them at Eastport Yacht club so we found a place to park (not easy even with a two seater) and took India for a walk. The Eastport pennisula is surrounded by Back Creek, Spa Creek and the Severn River. There are water views pretty much everywhere you walk. It felt really good to be back in the area. We discussed the Bahamas with Ken and Sara whose recommendation was to go directly there next fall and skip Marathon all together. This left us feeling a bit torn as we have friends bound for both areas. We will be seeing Lisa and Terry of Lee Sea Anne II while we are in NY who are thinking Marathon next season and Bonnie and Peter are also looking to spend part of the winter there. Something to ponder as fall approaches. After an all way too short visit we parted ways and headed to our hotel for the evening. After a quiet night we headed to bed destination Rochester tomorrow.
The picture is Tintean entering the lock at the Dismal Canal last fall. This is where we met Ken and Sara. Ken is on the bow Sara is on the deck. Two fantastic sailors and great people.
