Good bye OtterII

14 March 2016 | Boot Key Harbor
Sally it is a tad warm here
Fred and Karen on Otter II pulled out this morning. It was sad to watch them leave they have been great mooring neighbors and we will miss them. We shared quite a few laughs with them and wish them well in their journeys. That's the way this life is you meet folks and then you or they move on. Sometimes paths cross again but not always.
Not long after they left the ball was reassigned to another boat called Scout, their dingy's name was Boo Radley, get the connection? We stopped on our way back from taking India in this evening and asked the woman in the cockpit. "Are you a To Kill A Mockingbird Fan"? She was indeed. They have two dingys a little sailing dingy (Boo Radley) and an inflatable named Harper Lee. LOL I asked her if she had read the new Harper Lee book, which she had and asked if I had. When she found out I had not she ran down below and got the book and gave it to me. No return needed just pass it on, how nice was that???? We chatted for a bit longer their boat is registered in Bridgeport CT. So of course we talked about our CT connection. Tara was a worked in Veterinary Medicine and has two pups on board. Her's are boat trained. We told her about India's issues and she was very helpful with advice.
Also in the small world department we had noticed a boat whose hailing port was Sodas Bay NY. We had to go find out about them as well. Waves of Grace has made the trip up and down the ICW three times. They invited us aboard for cocktails and we exchanged stories. Pat and Walt were teachers in their pre-retirement life and lived in Dansville NY, which was very close to where we lived when we were first married. They too have a boat dog who is boat trained and Pat gave me some tips to try with India. Maybe we will get lucky and get them to work. After a lovely visit we toodled back to Light Reach in the dingy for supper.
The picture is Fred and Karen not the best but the only one I had.
