We have decided to stay put until the front passes through. Dinner key is rumored to be uncomfortable in an easterly blow of anything more than 15 knots. Right now they are predicting winds up to 30 kts on Saturday out of the NE. After reviewing the forecast we decided to stay put until Monday, when the weather looks more favorable for an outside run to Miami. We really don't have to be anywhere and there is a waitlist for balls at Boot Key so why rush?
We had a lovely coffee and breakfast in the cockpit and then headed in to sign up to stay until Monday. India enjoyed her dingy ride and walk. Scott took her back to the boat while I had a splendid shower. Very nice and oh so appreciated. He came back to get me and shower himself. It was now safe to stand down wind of us. We decided to walk down to the beach area and explore a bit. Scott wanted to get a clip for bills, he doesn't like carrying his wallet around all the time. I was looking for a watch. I lost mine somewhere and unlike the younger set I still like one on my wrist. It's really helpful to tell how long it is before the next bridge will open. It was driving me nuts using my phone to do that. Scott did find a clip but I didn't find a watch. Most of the stores are either boutiques or tourist junk shops.
The captain was hankering for a burger so we stopped and had lunch at one of the beach front establishments. Mostly they push large drinks and I think are really geared toward the spring break crowd. I had a spinach and apple salad while Scott downed a burger the size of his head. Food was pretty good although the server rather stunk. He seemed to be in a hurry to be rid of us which was odd since the place was pretty empty. I was also miffed that the bill included a "service charge'. So no extra tip for you feh! PS we would have left more than the service charge had we been given the option of deciding how much to tip. Pretty sneaky if you ask me as there was also a empty line marked tip. Having learned our lesson with our credit card getting lifted in Geogia this past summer we paid cash.
We returned to the boat much to the delight of India and Scott read while I typed up some blog posts. Later in the afternoon we were delighted to have Alex and Dave from Banyan come over for a chat and get to know you session. I have followed Alex's blog for years always an enjoyable read and now we have met them in person. I must say they are as delightful as Alex's blog portrays them. She is an absolute excellent writer. We had a lovely visit, swapping tales with much laughter. They are waiting the front out as well and then will be off to the Bahamas.
Supper was simple after our big lunch and it was lights out early for us.
The picture is of Banyan who is moored right next to us.
