Boo Boo Hill

We had rain showers off and on during the night which continued after sunrise. The Captain was unhappy his CPAP had kicked off during the night and the refrigerator shut off.... low voltage. We are beginning to suspect we may be seeing end of life on our AGM house battery bank. We are nursing it along charging it with the generator.
I did listen to Chris Parker this morning, and touched base with Roger and Sue on Dancin Down Wind. We also checked in on Cruiseheimers net to let the world know where Light Reach was today. After that I turned it off trying to conserve power as much as we can.
We said good bye to Destiny as they cruised by us on their way to somewhere out there. A few of the other boats pulled out as well but more are slated to arrive today.
After breakfast we packed the backpack with camera, water and sunscreen and headed out to hike Boo Boo Hill. If I could have hiked these trails 15 years ago it most likely would not have been an issue, but I'm a bit of a fraidy cat when it comes to steep trails made of holey rocks. The islands are limestone, sharp jagged rock with pits and holes just waiting to reach out a grab an ankle or pitch you down a ledge. We aren't in Kansas Toto, no grab rails, no clearly defined path and no medical help close by makes Sally tres nervous LOL. Could this be why it's called "Boo Boo Hill"? Fall down get big BOO BOO! With Scott coaxing me along we made it to the top. The views were definitely worth the work. The cruisers monument was much larger than I would have imagined. Thousands of pieces of wood with boat names from all over the world. It's quite impressive and I am glad we didn't miss it. After finding a piece that had no entry we left the mark that Light Reach had indeed been to Boo Boo hill (her crew anyway). We started down the trail that led to Boo Boo beach but when we came upon a section that looked like it required a mountain goat's tenacity and sense of balance I opted for just photos. The beach didn't look all that hospitable anyway.
The return trip was just as much fun as the climb up and when we got to the trail head at the beach I was much happier. So much for getting to the ruins of the Davis plantation, on foot anyway. I think I'll leave the hiking to the young nimble folks at least on limestone islands. We stopped at the tiki hut on the beach where we talked with the couple from the catamaran Freedom (Brian and Carol). We had a nice visit and then returned to our respective boats which are parked right next to one another.
Right now I'm typing blog posts while Scott rests. He didn't sleep much last night without his machine. The moorings which emptied last night are slowly filling up.
After Scott's nap we took the dingy over to the beach where we did some snorkeling. Without glasses I don't see much but there were some conch. There are some excellent snorkeling spots here that we may visit. They recommend you do them at slack tide because of the current. The swim was wonderful we spent a couple of hours playing in the water. Quite a few folks were on the beach with us.
The winds were down enough that we could actually grill tonight. Cheeseburgers in paradise.
