Lifes the Berrys

The wind died last night so we didn't get any battery boost from the wind generator and Scott's CPAP kicked out shortly after we had gone to sleep. He was exhausted. Today we were traveling to Byrd Cay in the Berry Island chain of the Bahamas. A distance of about 28nm heading north west across the Northwest Providence channel. We had the anchor up and got underway shortly after 0900. Once we cleared the rocky bits I took the helm for most of the day so Scott could catch up on his sleep. There was little to no wind and the seas were pretty flat with about a 6 second swell. I kept a careful eye out for cruise ships but didn't see any. One freighter and a Bahamas Defense force boat were the only vessels other than pleasure craft.
We are going to anchor behind Byrd tonight with the thought of moving over to Frasiers Hog tomorrow and perhaps pick up a mooring at the Berry Islands Club. Winds are supposed to build out of the South on Friday and run through Sunday. Byrd doesn't offer much protection from that direction.
There were two other boats in the anchorage when we pulled in that had claimed the better spots to anchor so we tucked in just behind the land spit and dropped the hook. We were pleasantly surprised to find we had cell service. That makes me a happy sailor.
After getting settled from the days travels we both jumped in the water. It is amazingly clear and felt fantastic. We had our last steak from the freezer on the grill tonight. The sunset was spectacular sinking down under the horizon as I took advantage of having hot water to do dinner dishes.
The picture is Byrd Cay, it is a private island with from what we could see one home and several small out buildings.
