Ft Lauderdale to rest

We woke up from our nap and who should be on the mooring next to us but Eloise. They had passed us on the banks Monday, having left Chub after us. How they got behind us we would find out when we met them on shore at the marina office. They had stopped for the night on the banks behind Bimini and left the following morning to make the crossing.
Yesterday we rested mostly although we did get the dingy off the bow and came in to register at the marina and have a much needed shower. It felt splendid to stand in the warm stream of water and enjoy the first true shower since March. What a treat. We also went out to eat at the Quarterdeck which is a mostly sushi place. Scott did manage to find cooked meat while I enjoyed tuna tartar. Delish
Today I did laundry in a real washing machine. Heavenly! Clean sheets, the things you treasure. The last time we did serious laundry was in Black Point and we had four very stinky loads to do. I was treated to croissants from the little French bakery around the corner for breakfast. They have the most heavanly pastries and bread.
We chatted with Brett and Teresa from Eloise who were also in doing laundry. They had been in Marathon at the same time as us and had gone to the Bahamas the middle of February. They will leave on Friday for Ft Pierce on the outside where they will have Eloise hauled for the season. We have decided to stay until Saturday when we will head up the inside to Lantana. Scott called and reserved us a spot at the same marina we used last year.
I forgot to mention we did have one casualty on the crossing, Scott's kindle. He accidently stepped on it when the boat went one way and he the other. The screen took a direct hit. He was bereft. Anyone who knows Scott knows he is a voracious reader and losing his kindle was like losing a limb. Truly its usually attached to his hand 90 percent of the time.
While I did laundry he picked up one of my for real books and started to read it. I was shocked our literature tastes being quite the opposite.
We headed to Coconuts for an early dinner. It was an excellent choice Scott had a rib eye sandwich while I opted for an excellent heirloom tomato salad with shrimp. How quickly we adjust to the amenities of being in the US.
The picture is of the beach at West Bay that the tours use. We will miss those blue blue waters.
