Summer Road Trip Part B

With the storm past we began our trip back reversing the visits we had enjoyed on our way up. Another stop in NJ at Deb and George’s with dinner on the shore full of good talk and food. We hope to see them this winter.
Our visit with Bonnie and Peter took place at their home in Pennsylvania. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed a visit to a local winery and got to see some of the lovely area.
We were anxious to pick up our hatch and headed back to Washington NC. It’s a lovely town on the Pamilico River with a pretty river walk and quaint downtown. We had already planned our stop there assuming that the hatch cover would be done. Whoops we should have called before leaving Rochester. The hatch was not cured fully so Thumper graciously offered to ship it to the condo when it was completely cured. They didn’t replace the balsa but instead filled it with fiberglass which will be stronger and not subject to absorbing the water.
We had planned a three day stop in Hilton Head renting a small condo. It was a terrific decision. The condo was cute, right on the beach and had a lovely pool sitting beach side. We visited with Sue and Roger who have decided they like the area so much they are buying a home there. We saw the famous Light House, toured the island and had great food and loads of fun.
Next stop Atlanta where we visited with Janet in her beautiful new home on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta. She had just recently moved there to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters from New Jersey. We spent two days exploring the area and getting caught up with her.
Our final stop was at Scott’s cousin Mark’s place in Alachua (north of Orlando) for a night. On our way back down 95 we stopped in Stuart to check on Light Reach. She was in great shape with only the tarp over the dingy ripped to shreds by the storm. Dry inside with no sign of any storm damage. We were so lucky. We found the condo to be the same, a few branches down, and bushes denuded but the condo was fine. The association had already cleaned up most of the debris and we hadn’t even lost power.
The picture is of Scott and Janet taken at a local craft brewery we visited.
