Happy Birthday Captain

29 November 2017 | Sunset Bay Marina, Stuart Fl
Sally
We spent the last three days finishing up some final business (Captain needed an eyeglass repair) and cleaning and closing up the condo. With the car packed to the rafters we set out to move on Light Reach for the season.
We made a stop at a local BBQ place to celebrate the Captains most recent trip around the sun. It was a scrumptious lunch, Stuart has no end of fantastic restaurants. It’s going to be a serious challenge this winter not to eat our way through all of them! Yikes
It took two dingy trips to schlep all the junk out to the boat. Somehow I managed to get all the food into the fridge. A very tight fit, we get a little spoiled at the condo with a full size fridge.
We’ve got less food on board than last year but still we are challenged for room. The quarter berth has the sails stored in it along with the main sail cover and various other bits like the ditch bag. We decided not to bend the sails on since we aren’t going anywhere. We had them cleaned and repaired this summer and they are tucked neatly into their respective bags. We’ll never get them folded as compactly as the sail loft did and there is no sense in exposing them to the elements if we aren’t going to use them. We have mixed feelings on that, but we are very fortunate to have a place to spend the winter and a boat to do it in. The latest statistic I saw from the keys was that more than 1000 boats have been lifted from the bottom and crushed, and they continue to salvage them. The amount of debris is tremendous and the staggering damages cost of 206 billion to the US and it territories this season is mind boggling.
We really love the marina, there is another pot luck scheduled for Saturday, Sue and Roger are on the ball right next to ours and we’ve run into other folks we have met before in our travels. Life is good in Stuart.
Picture is of the birthday boy.
