Happy New Year!

Sally temps are dropping winds are rising
Happy New Year! We celebrated in our normal cruiser fashion. After a traditional dinner of Lasagna and salad we toasted the new year at London time and were in bed by 9:00!
We woke to cool temperatures again this morning. We’ve been running our little furnace in the mornings and evenings to keep the chill off the boat. I know we will get little sympathy from our northern friends but it’s been down in the 40’s at night. Brrrr
The oven has been getting a work out too which helps ward off the chill. This morning I made sugar free sticky buns another holiday tradition. While they were cooking we took down the Christmas decorations. We were a little sad that the season in drawing to a close. We had so much going on this year which is unusual for us. Between Marina sponsored events, events in Stuart, getting back together with cruising friends for sundowners, dinners and dominoes we were busy!
Once the sun made an appearance I sent the Captain for some water and spent the remainder of the morning scrubbing the starboard side decks. We hadn’t given Light Reach a really good scrubbing since we had arrived here. The holidays had been too busy to get any of that kind of work done and she really needs a sprucing. Because we have to haul our water out to the boat in 5 gallon increments it becomes a daily chore to keep us in fresh water. The river here is notoriously polluted so pulling water out to wash down the decks isn’t a consideration. The clouds started coming in as the morning progressed. There is a front coming through tonight that will prevent me from getting the port side done for a couple of days. As I type the winds are picking up and there is a gale warning in effect for the area. We are well provisioned and have a good amount of water on board.

The picture is of one of the beautiful sunsets that give the Marina its name.
