Good Bye Dancing Downwind

Dancin Down Wing with Roger, Sue, Harry and Draco left the harbor today. They had been prepping to leave since our return from the BVI. We felt a tug and sadness as we waved good-bye, watched them drop the mooring and head down river. We turned the VHF on and heard them hail the bridge for an opening and just like that they were gone. They are on their way to Hilton Head, where they have purchased a land base on the island. We aren't sure what their future sailing plans are, but for now, the boat will be kept in a marina there. They'll live on her until they can get the house put together. They've been on the boat for 14 years and have three storage lockers full of the stuff from their former lives to sort through before moving in. We will miss them but plans are in the works to stop in on our way north this summer.
Other cruising friends Sonia and Will have sold their boat and are in the process of building a house here in Traditions, Gary and Sharon have their cat on the market and hope to sell before summer. It seems like so many of our friends are leaving the life. Some having been doing it for years and are ready for a change, for others it didn't turn out as they had hoped and still others have health issues that require them to be close to doctors. We hope to hang on for quite a few more years but only time will tell that story. No glass on board so I had to leave the crystal ball behind.
We have started having discussions on our plans for the upcoming summer but nothing is finalized yet.
The picture is of Dancing Downwind leaving their mooring. Bye guys!
I'm not sure why sail blogs doesn't pick up when I have rotated a shot.
