Family Day

Sally summer is on its way
Today was exceptionally great I had lots of family come visit. My brother Gene, his wife Kathy, sisters Abbie and Mary with their respective spouses Bob and Gil all traveled to Stuart to see Light Reach and us! Wow, its rare to get that many of us in one spot and this far from our hometown was astronomical. Gene has a small plane and loves to fly. He flew down from their winter home is Winterhaven where Mary and Gil were visiting with them. Stuart has a large and busy airport. No commercial passenger planes fly in but loads of private and commercial jets keep the runways busy. The landing pattern genrally passes right over the mooring field. After establishing which terminal they would be coming into, Scott went to pick them up. Abbie and Bob are on their way back north for the summer and drove up from Boynton with the intention of traveling on to Orlando after leaving here.. Abbie organized the group, since Mom passed she’s our mother hen keeping us chicks in touch with one another. We all gathered at the Marina where Scott ferried folks out to the boat. There wasn’t room for me in the dingy so I stayed back on the porch with Abbie and Bob. (They’s seen the boat in Marathon a couple of years ago) It has now been confirmed by two more of my siblings that I am officialy nuts. LOL Living in this small a space is not for everyone. And traveling in and out by dingy is even less for them.
We walked into town along the riverwalk to the Boatyard restaurant for lunch. I picked it because it sits right on the river but alas there was no room outside for a party of our size so we were seated indoors. Maybe not a bad thing as it was pretty windy on the water. After a raucous lunch, (we’re always raucous) with much lively conversation we walked down Osceola street to do some mostly window shopping. The boys were definitely not into the shopping scene and it was starting to get later in the day. Gene wanted to have the plane back before dark and Abbie and Bob had a couple of hours drive. All too soon we said our good byes and Scott ferried the fliers back to the airport and the others drove off. It was so much fun to see them all and I was really touched that they wanted to see where I live on the water. While not really a black sheep I guess I consider myself to be kind of a charcoal gray one. I’m the only one of the six who left our hometown for any length of time after graduating high school. The other 5 live there at least part of the year still.
The picture was taken as we “girls” perused the shops on Osceola Street. The guys and Kathy weren’t into shopping. The smart guy with his tongue out is my goofy brother.
