Polishing the Topsides

We’ve moved the cushions on board and turned on the fridge, heaving a sigh of relief when it got cold. We can stay on board if we wish while she is in the yard but with no A/C and the bugs that come out in full force after dark we’ve opted to commute back and forth to the condo. We had some serious rains that have interrupted progress some.
Our next task was to tackle the topsides. We had bought stripper that was supposed to let us remove the poli-glow but it proved to be pretty useless. We’re kicking ourselves for ever putting it on in the first place. It’s a polymer that is supposed to act as both a sealer for scratches in the gel coat and a wax. When you first put it on it looks fantastic, unfortunately after a couple of years it has delaminated unevenly.
We found that vinegar and water did a more effective job of removing some but not all of it, along with a plastic dry wall scraper. After going over the topsides twice we applied a coat of marine polish and rubbed it out. She looked better but not great.
The picture is the view off the stern of the boat of the yard. Bit busy wouldn't you agree?
