And we're off!

With no viable dock space we decided to pull out of the marina around 9:00 AM and headed east. We figured if we couldn’t get a spot at the docks before the lock we would lock through and pass on to the mooring field hoping for an open mooring. If none were available we’d anchor just inside the mooring field. We have seen other boats do this. I hailed the operator of the Indantown railroad bridge and was told we’d have to wait for the train. Starting the season cruising in circles LOL ! After about 20 minutes I got on the phone and called the number for the campground and got a recording. Apparently the reservations service which is located who knows where doesn’t open before 10:00 EST. I was able to make a reservation and when asked how long we wished to stay booked the maximum of 14 days. This will give us a place until after New Years when we suspected some moorings might open up after the holidays. We came upon the docks after an uneventful motoring up the canal. Bringing the boat in had significant pucker factor as you point directly toward a rocky shore. We had helpers on the docks from other boaters who were already here. And we were grateful for that. I got a line around the first piling and held on for dear life to try to stop our forward progress. The folks on the dock got a bow line on for us and spring lines. We fussed around for a bit getting things settled so we felt comfortable.
The picture was taken off our bow after we docked. Yikes
