We were delayed getting out of the yard on Saturday, which was fine, because it rained all day Sunday. But, the lift is picking us up as I type. Hopefully, we'll be in the water by 1100, maybe 1130 It's like moving the space shuttle to the launch pad! We want to get fuel before we head out, mainly to see how much we burned on the last 30-hour run, as we were at higher RPMs. We will also top off our water tanks and pump out the holding tank. Then, off we go!! The treat for this passage is gingerbread, a seasonal favorite as well as a natural remedy for seasickness.
Weather is forecast to be north winds at 10-15 knots which will give us a nice, downwind run, maybe even under sail! It will take about 20-24 hours to get to Biscayne Key, just south of Miami. This will put us in the Hawk Channel and behind the protection of the reef. Depending on how the night went, we will either stop at Biscayne Key or continue on in daylight, hopefully as far south as Rodriguez Key. I will take the 1800-2100 and the 2400-0400 watches, and Scott will take 2100-2400 and 0400-0700. During the day, we are both up and take turns napping with no set watch schedule. Morgan will also help keep an eye out.
If I can, I will send a brief posting while en route; otherwise, follow along on Spot and I'll post more once in Marathon. All is well.
