Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away

Arrival

Donna
As you can tell, if you track us on Spot, we arrived at Boot Key Harbor in Marathon and are on a mooring ball.

A few statistics on this latest part of the journey:

The trip from Fort Pierce to Marathon took a total of 49.5 hours, including a 10-hour overnight stop at Rodriguez Key. Our average speed for the 39.5 hours of actual travel time was 5.57 kts. We plan for 5.0 knots, so, anything over that is a bonus.

The first leg to Rodriguez Key was 170 miles and we averaged 5.23 kts, with the lowest speed of 3.8 kts. The winds were out of the north-northeast, right off our stern with speeds between 10 and 15 kts. Seas were 2-3 feet at 5-7 second intervals.

The last 50 miles from Rodriquez Key to Marathon we had wind speeds of 10-15 gusting 17, but right on our beam. This is an ideal setup for our boat. We were in the Hawk Channel behind the reef, so the seas were only 1/2 foot. With these "perfect" conditions, our average boat speed for this leg was 7.0 kts, with the fastest speed at 8.4!!!

We will be here in Marathon for about a month. Scott has to return to Arizona for dental work after the first of the year and we hope to head to the Bahamas after that. Will we have crew with us for our next leg? We don't know yet. No one has volunteered. :) In the meantime, we will catch up on some deferred maintenance and do a little sightseeing around the Keys. I'll check in once a week to keep you updated on our plans and adventures. All is well.
