Woke this morning to find 3 fishers peering quizzically at Merakai, apparently puzzling over where to lay their nets.
After some deliberations, they laid an enormous circular net parallel to Merakai and looping back to the shore. It's a bit sad to see the incredibly small fish they catch.
Left mid-morning, motor-sailing to our last stop on Sumbawa. Dodged what we thought was a net, but turned out to be dozens of bits of polystyrene and plastics floating along a tide line.
The entrance to the fjord-like Potopaddu Bay is narrow, but once past the lovely white sandspit (with picnic shelters) -
we found a calm, tranquil bay, perfectly serene with song birds!
However, nearing dusk, we had a stream of blokes in boats returning from the day's fishing dropping by and asking for cigarettes, beer, t-shirts, hats, goggles.....
All up, there must have been 10-12 boats by the end. The last crew invited us to the village the next morning.
