NYC to Manhasset Bay
02 September 2009 | Manhasset Bay
The initial plan was to take the Northfork north up the Hudson river and around toward the Hellgate to Long Island sound. Unfortunately, the East River (???) had numerous swing bridges that would have had to have been opened to let the Northfork through so after studying the maps further, we made the decision to head back to the southern end of Manhattan and then north to Hellgate. After dodging a bit of traffic, we made it to Manhasset bay and anchored offshore there.
We spent a day in Port Washington doing some shopping and finding a place we could dispose of oil from the engine's oil change the week before. For dinner, we went to Louie's which was on the water and had a lively atmosphere.
Dana had not been feeling well for several days, so we were keeping things pretty tame.
