Octopussy
Well, I included Monday, since it was a holiday, because we were working on the boat.

Any days that 007 gets to work with me we get so much more done. Last week, during the week at least, I got nothing done. So we turned and burned this weekend.

1. Rub Rails. We needed to re-bed the rub rails. Here is a before and after pic. Before: the screw heads were sticking out. I can just imagine them snagging something and then ripping the entire rub rail off. After: countersunk, so they can't catch on anything.

There is supposed to be a metal cover over the middle of the rub rail. We'll see if we get around to it.

For now, we are just happy that the screw heads are counter-sunk.

2. Graphics. I have been on the Cruisers Forum over the past two weeks watching a couple of threads related to removing old boat graphics. Ours were particularly difficult to remove. I don't know if it was because they were a good "New England," quality product, or just the fact that they were thirty years old- but they were obstinate. I tried "peeling them." Nothing. I tried scraping them; but only managed to gouge the gelcoat around the graphics, without even making a dent into the graphic itself. Then, I found it: the 3M Adhesive Eraser Wheel. Awesome.

3. The Starboard Rudder. Ugh. the ongoing project. I'll devote a post to the Epic Saga of man versus fiberglass later this week. I originally wrote something on this last week: Is Your Rudder Delaminated, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?... stay tuned.
