Matt
We have been racing around since we arrived on Sunday preparing the boat, installed the life raft container on the stern, installed the AIS (Automatic Identification System), a transponder system like Air Traffic Control for the ocean. All big ships must have them, we have a receive only so we know where they are and how fast they're closing on us. We have the sat phone antenna up so we can send updates to our position, and download weather info.
I had some trying ties today trying get the electronics working and Lesley and Steve did a great job each getting on with other tasks
Well tomorrow morning we'll fill up with water and diesel, and head east. The weather looks favourable.
Atlantic Highlands has been a great place to prep. We found very helpful people and the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club is a very friendly place, in a fine location and wonderful scenery to accomplish these preparations. (I don't associate New Jersey with nice views historically, I will in future.)
We'll keep you posted.
