At Anchor
11 February 2014 | Great Sale Cay
John Stevenson
At 09:15 we dropped the anchor in Great Sale Cay. So far we are the only boat anchored in this popular anchorage. There was a power boat at anchor, but they left as we were coming in. There may be a reason (other than power boater snobbery). The GRIB file I downloaded last night shows a southerly blow starting tomorrow afternoon. This anchorage provides good protection from all directions except the south. So we will rest today and tonight, then get underway tomorrow for some place with protection from the south. I would like that to be Green Turtle Cay, but that is a long haul against a southerly wind. We will get underway before dawn and try to make it. If we can't get there well before dark we will likely take a berth at the Spanish Cay Marina for 2 nights to let the blow move on.
All is well, but we are tired.
