We have had our good friends Rod and Jane Dufour aboard for the past two weeks. They leave tomorrow to go back to Olympia and finish getting their boat ready to sail down the coast and rendezvous with us here in Mexico next fall.

Their trip started with us having a northerly and the Port being closed. We left as soon as it opened and made it up Ensenada Grande. The wind picked back up and we ended up waiting two days there for the wind and seas to settle before heading further north. Our goal was to get to Puerto Escondido to check out the haul out yard and the worker there who we got a quote from for a bottom job in May.

We made it there with stops in Everisto and Aqua Verde and pretty settled weather. We stayed for two days allowing me to get some internet work done and to make it into Loreto and check out that beautiful little enclave. The yard it very nice and the work appears to be top notch. The quote for the whole job is about what the haul out and materials alone would be back home in Everett. This was the reason we waited about a year longer than we should have to get this done. Saving $10,000 is nothing to sneeze at!

Our way back south we took at a nice leisurely pace allowing for lots of beach combing. Jane is a master shell collector with I think every species native to the area among her collection. We stopped at Los Gatos, Aqua Verde again, Puerto Salinas on Isla San Jose' and a couple other places that I've forgotten the names of.

We always have a great time with these friends and this time has been no exception.
